We started Both Tails because we believe our pets deserve better.

Our Story

Our story started on Christmas 2023, when our family dog, Piku, received a holiday sweater from one of the biggest pet retailers in the country. What should have been a thoughtful, festive gift ended up feeling disappointing: the material felt cheap, the design was uninspired, and the details felt overlooked.

As a family with a background in clothing, my wife and I knew pet apparel could be better. We were tired of seeing the same boring designs, dull colors, poor materials, and lack of care in clothing made for dogs. Our pets have such big personalities, yet so much of what existed for them felt like an afterthought.

So we started sketching. We spent weeks thinking through colors, patterns, fabrics, fit, and the small details that make clothing feel special. Sketches turned into samples, and samples turned into pieces for friends and family. After hearing how much people loved the thoughtful design, quality, and attention to detail, we kept going (and we haven’t stopped since).

We’re still designing every day with the same goal: to bring the care, craft, and creativity of great clothing to pets. Because dogs like Piku deserve pieces that feel as expressive, joyful, and full of personality as they are.
